Suzan Pektaş and Öykü Önal, who were granted by the 2023 SALT Research Funds, focused on the effects of mining activities carried out by French capital in the Balya district of Balıkesir from 1892 to 1939 while examining the concepts of labor and exploitation in the nature, economy and social structure of the region.

The photobook, consisting of Öykü Önal's self-portraits, contains traces from the ambiguous and veiled areas of her life. The artist's quest, which began when she returned to her aunt's summer house years later, where she spent his childhood summers, follows the pressures of growing up. Her photographs, which reveal her cynical attitude towards the phenomenon of identity and her own identity - or lack thereof - question our perception of the private and the body.
